Freeze-Dried Raw and RawMix Dog Update

At Open Farm, we pride ourselves on transparency and our commitment to doing good for pets, animals, and the planet. Since we launched Open Farm in 2014, our priority has always been to help pets live their healthiest, happiest lives by delivering exceptional nutrition made from the world’s best responsibly sourced ingredients, and we work every day to maintain those high standards for your pets (and ours too).

We recently identified small pieces of soft plastic film in select lots of five Freeze-Dried Raw Morsel Recipes for dogs and our Front Range Ancient Grains RawMix Recipe for dogs through our quality control process. The pieces of this plastic film have been found in very limited instances throughout the production lots. They are composed of a food grade material and are non-toxic, thin and malleable, and do not pose a health risk for dogs. We determined that the issue was caused when a few small pieces of the liner on some of our raw protein ingredients were not completely removed before manufacturing. These batches don’t meet Open Farm’s high-quality standards so we have asked our retailers to remove them from the shelves so we can replace them. To best ensure we avoid this quality issue moving forward, we have added additional material handling requirements and quality inspections throughout the production process for these recipes.

Only the products and lot numbers in the table below are impacted. The lot number can be found on the back of your Open Farm bag. You can continue to feed all other Open Farm products and lot numbers as usual.
